IRT – Quarantine Facility

Karaka, Auckland

May 01, 2016

This is a new world class quarantine facility for IRT in Karaka, it features:

• 24 large stables

• an office complex inclusive of showers, toilets, a lunch room and storage facilities

• a feed room

• a double wash bay

• and an equine surgical area.

There is a generous breezeway throughout and well-designed ventilation and air flow will make sure that every horse coming through this purpose built equestrian facility does so in the best possible environment.

“In 2015 IRT (International Racehorse Transport) began scoping potential companies to undertake the development and build of a new Equine Quarantine facility in Karaka, South Auckland.

This new facility is one of a kind in New Zealand given the governing regulations surrounding its vital role in protecting our borders from equine disease.

The decision to award the contract to Harrison Lane became a simple one due to the ease in which their proposal was presented and delivered.

During the build period, Laura and her team were incredibly professional to work and deal with. Always making themselves available to address any queries or deal with decisions on the project, made for a very fluid relationship.

Communication in any circumstance is vital, and Harrison Lane exceeded expectations in this area and every other.

No project is without its challenges, but our confidence in these being resolved quickly and efficiently was second to none.

I would not hesitate to strongly recommend Laura and her Harrison Lane team for your design, build and development in the construction industry.”
