SHEER STYLE
Award-winning barn-style home with integrated stables.
Reflecting on happy memories of his days staying in the shearer’s quarters at Massey University, the owner of this country home hoped to create a similar atmosphere with his new sophisticated apartment-style dwelling.
The resulting 680sqm residence speaks volumes. Its four bedrooms are well served by four exquisitely appointed bathrooms. Expansive open-plan living provides an opulent social gathering space.
Lightly varnished plywood interior walls ensure the lower-floor accommodation (adjacent to the stable block), hits the right note of nostalgia.
A well-lit floating staircase with timber bannister leads up to the open-layout kitchen, dining and lounge spaces which survey an equestrian arena.
Timber floors, high ceilings, white-washed walls and full-height glass create a sunny, luxurious atmosphere – without losing sight of the country outlook, of course.
Beautiful natural timber kitchen cupboards and a 3.2m island bench provide a further nod to the old-school brief. Meanwhile, clean, sleek lines place this elegant kitchen – and indeed home – firmly in the present.
Downstairs – the four stable complex offers tie ups/wash down area, tack and feed rooms and extensive garaging.
We worked with our lovely clients to design & build their Country Home, with the addition of multiple farm buildings and an arena.
